The powerful and solidly-built Mountfield S38 employs 16 double-tipped carbon-steel blades that not only tease-out damaging moss, thatch and weeds from the lawn, but also open-up compacted soils, with both processes working to encourage vigorous, uninhibited growth.
Power for the scarifying rotor is supplied by a 127cc Briggs & Stratton 550-Series engine; a 3.5hp four-stroke OHV motor which features a Dura-Bore™ cast-iron cylinder-sleeve for superior wear-resistance; DuraLube™ splash-lubrication, which extends the life of key parts; and a One-Start carburettor for consistent first-pull starts.
The Mountfield S38 Petrol Lawn Scarifier is built around a heavy-duty pressed-steel deck which benefits from a powder-coated paint finish that works to prevent corrosion.
It has an adjustable scarifying-depth, so you can be as aggressive or delicate in your approach as you like; and it runs on ball-bearing mounted wheels that make the unit easy to push over bumpy terrain, and which won’t become stiff with age (as can be the case with cheaper bush-mounted wheels). This model is fitted with a rear-deflector, which means you can work without the large-capacity 45-litre collector, should you not wish to collect lawn debris.
